So, the Mrs and I were running errand and required sustenance. We pulled into the mall type area, looked around, and saw a Mexican joint. We parked, and walking to the Mexican place we saw it shared a roof with a Greek restaurant. OK, let's do this!
The place looks more like a cheap chain restaurant than a fancy sit-down diner. The menu pretty much follows the same stereotype. Burger this, sammich that, blah blah blah. But they have gyros. And souvlaki. And falafel. So... we give it a try.

The gyro was good. Not great, but good. The souvlaki was out of this world excellent. The falafel was good. The service was good. I give it five stars for the food, three for the ambiance, which makes a solid four star rating. -

Normally pretty good food here but today was not a good day for them.
My salad was drowned in raw vinegar to the point where I couldn't eat it. Same with the veggies in it.
My husband's french fries were cold stale and dry. They could do better. -

Well, then. I have had Zeeks a few times when driving that direction and thought it was a decent sub for Keifers - not as popular and crowded, either. Tonight I have grown kids in town craving Keifers to go, but I chose Zeeks for a shorter drive. Big mistake. Here was my order:
Gyro
Gyro Salad
Gyro - no tomatoes
Gyro - just meat
Almost famous gyro - don't wrap so we can cook the onion (not open face - just regular)
Gyro - don't wrap so we can cook the onion (not open face - just regular)
Feta dressing
All pita - whole wheat
Fine, not too complicated right? I specifically asked what "open face" for $3.25 extra was when I called and was told you get a little more stuff on it, but no more meat, so I said, I do not want that - can you just not wrap them. Sure, she said. When I checked out, I noticed the 2 unwrapped pitas had a 3.25 upcharge. I asked the cashier and she said that was the only way to ring them up. I said, so you can't just get a regular pita unwrapped, and she said she didn't know why but had to charge for open face, even though we did not get anything more than in a regular pita. Then she said she didn't get why they charged so much for a little more lettuce/tomato to begin with. Hey, girl - same here! I politely asked to speak to the manager and she brought a bland, lifeless guy over. I explained (nicely) to him that this was not what I ordered. He said, well we had to ring it up as open face cause it is more labor. I said -slighlty bemused - so it is harder to NOT layer, fold and wrap it in paper than it is to just drop it in a box. "Yea" he said, "it is". K. I told him I specifically asked about getting it unwrapped but NOT open faced and he said "huh". I explained I was not happy paying an extra $6.50 for nothing and he said (lol) You got something - look at all that food. I said "Dude, I could have gotten 2 fries, a beer, or an app for that 6.50". No response. He said well you got a little salad with it. I open the box (see pics) and there is 1/2 cup lettuce included. I pointed out this is not a "salad" and he said it should have had cucumber and tomatoes (apparently that is the 3.25 upcharge upgrade." I commented I saw neither and he said, you didn't want tomatoes. Nope, I asked for no tomatoes on ONE gyro and cucumbers never entered the convo. The guy is unphased and unapologetic and pretty much ignored my question. Offers no compromise, even when I said, well at least give me the tomatoes and cucumbers since i paid for them and didn't want them. He stares at me like someone from Children of the Corn. I thanked him and left, but added as I left that I was no longer able to recommend him. Fine by him! I said, ok, would you share the owner's name, as I'd like to email them, and he said it was him (Shaun). Woah, no wonder the service was so bad when the owner has 0 interest in customer service. When I got home, we found we had 3 whole wheat pitas, not 5 and other little omissions. Dang it, I wanted a quick sub for the classic Keifers, but Zeek's is not it. -

First they were out of what I wanted to order. Second both of our wraps were so greasy they were really hard to eat. I am talking grease dripping from sandwich and covered the bottom of the "plate". French fries were cold. Service was just ok. Will not be back!

Never heard of Zeek's but I thought it was a nice find thanks to the suggestion of our hotel shuttle driver, and considering it is Jackson Mississippi! The service was good, the menu is bright and not too many options. We had to ask for some more olives for our hummus but it tastes fresh and the pita was really good. My gyro was good also and if Kismet's is closed again but I am seriously craving something Mediterranean-esk I would consider coming back.
